You have one life to live, right? #YOLO and all that jazz? (Even though I believe in reincarnation, but let’s forget that for a moment.)
You have permission to try everything once! Name it, you are allowed. Who am I to say no? After all, I have taken every opportunity to try new things that were “good” or “bad”. I gave myself permission and I’m passing that onto you.
You have permission.
But.
When you find that one thing you love, stick to it.
When you find that one thing, which loves you UNCONDITIONALLY, you better hang onto it.
Hang onto it with dear life. Hold onto it as if your life depended on it. Because your life does depend on it. Finding and fulfilling your life’s purpose depends on you holding onto that one thing for dear life.
Your life’s purpose is not going to reveal itself to you by you dabbling in a whole a bunch of things here and there, without committing.
How commitment is connected to finding your life’s purpose
Everyone is searching for their calling in life. Even those who have found their calling must work very hard to keep hearing it, to keep hearing the call, and to keep following that call and fulfilling their life’s purpose.
The thing is, unless you are willing to pick one of the many paths you have walked in search for your calling, and decide to go all the way on that path, you wont get any closer to your calling. Unless you pick a path and progress on that one path, dedicatedly, you wont make any real advancement towards your purpose in life.
My story has a similar arc as well. About 3 years ago I committed to one style of meditation, Atma Kriya Yoga. It took me a while, nearly 8 months, but eventually, after meeting my Guru, I decided to commit to my Kriya Yoga practice, to my meditation.
I committed to it as if my life depended on it.
That is the one single reason for my personal advancement today, and it is all very personal so I hope you wont mind that I don’t share it all here.
Pick a direction and start walking
Just pick a path, follow your heart, and start walking. Even if it is the wrong direction, at least you have moved instead of staying still, paralyzed in fear of commitment.
Try everything once until you find that one thing that every cell in your body recognizes. Try everything until you find that one thing that makes you feel like you’ve come home.
Then, hang onto it like your life depends on it.
I love you so, so much.

P.s. Here’s a video I made a few months ago talking about trying many different meditation styles till you find the one you love. Once you do, stick to it.
