Hi, my name is Gillian and I live in Toronto, Canada.
I work in marketing by day, and I’m a vlogger (video blogger) by night.
When I get home from work I’ll shoot and edit videos that I’ll upload to YouTube. Usually for those I’ll do a tag or a haul – people love to see what other people find and bring home when they shop – or I’ll talk about which beauty products or candles I’m loving this month. The best is when my sister Hilary will film with me because she’s hilarious. On weekends I invite my subscribers into my life a little more with a more day-in-the-life vlog about whatever I get up to. Those videos often feature my friends and family, who are all good with appearing on camera. I have a small, devoted audience but it grows every day and I’m just thrilled that I’ve found a creative outlet that connects me to so many amazing people all over the world and lets me focus on interests I might not share with people I see every day.
The hardest things I had to do in 2014
Getting past the initial worry that starting a YouTube channel would impact me in some negative way. What if people I know saw my videos and thought they were frivolous or didn’t get it? I had to get over myself and not be afraid to fail, in public, at something new. I came to a place where I thought, “why not me?” and went for it.
I’m so glad I did!
What this taught me about myself
If you’re going to learn anything new, you have to be willing to bet on yourself first. The reward is so much bigger than whatever you’re afraid of.
Some accomplishments from 2014 that I’m proud of and happy about…
Starting my Youtube channel for sure. That was the biggest thing. I’m proud of how I’ve managed to balance work and this new hobby. I am proud of my relationship with my sister, which seems to keep getting better every year. We took our first non-family trip together this year and had so much fun. We really are best friends now.[wc_box color=”primary” text_align=”left”]

If you are feeling down at this time of year, my tip is
Make your bed. Seriously! This is what I do when I feel down, because it usually motivates me to keep going with other things that will make me feel better about my environment. When I’m taking care of my home, I’m taking care of myself. If I need to relax, I’ll hop in a bubblebath. If all else fails, spending time with my sister will make me laugh, and that always makes me feel great.
My intention for 2015 is to…
Tend my garden so the things that are important to me can grow: my relationships, my YouTube channel, my career, and soul.
In 2015, I am the Queen of Kindness!
